The Japanese Tea Ceremony is the forerunner of our traditional English Afternoon Tea. The rituals associated with tea drinking began in Japan in 1191 when its virtues were extolled as "the cup that cheers but does not inebriate". This evolved into the Tea Ceremony which is conducted according to prescribed etiquette in simple and quiet surroundings with a small gathering of friends.
There are three essential elements to The Japanese Tea Ceremony - the tea, the china and the setting.....and now Lily and Rose can bring to you the perfect porcelain to enjoy a beautiful, tranquil experience in the setting of your choice. Intricately and finely handpainted by Japanese craftsmen in the early 1900s, this tea service would probably have been brought to England by a sea captain for his wife to enable her to impress her social circle by indulging in the sophisticated pleasures of tea drinking.
This exclusive set is available to hire at £3.00 per person for parties up to 8 people and includes 8 traditional vintage Japanese handpainted eggshell porcelain cups, saucers and tea plates with two serving plates, matching teapot, sugar bowl and milk jug. Also included are 8 butter knives, cake forks and teaspoons.

Lily and Rose have teamed up with Classy Cupcakes of Beeston, Nottingham to provide wonderful vintage afternoon teas at home, with delicious home baked cakes, pastries, scones and savouries to complete any of our tea party packages. All you have to do is invite some lovely friends, and buy the milk! What a wonderful way to celelebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee!

Lily and Rose are partnering with Jenny and Emmaat Relish in Beeston, Nottingham to provide vintage afternoon teas in their fabulous new cafe on Chilwell High Road. Cakes, scones and pastries are home baked by Karen of Classy Cupcakes

Lily and Rose became
good friends in 2007 when we met after both being diagnosed with breast
cancer. Following months of treatment and subsequent recovery we felt ready for something new, lovely and completely different!
